Posted on April 4, 2016 · After 14 rounds with 53 total spellers, Shourav Dasari, a seventh grader at McCullough Jr. High in Conroe ISD, and Nihar Janga, a fifth grader at River Ridge Elementary in Leander ISD, won as co-champions at the 2016 Houston Public Media Spelling Bee.
