Posted on December 14, 2021 · At the start of the school year, Magnolia ISD suspended several students for having long hair, barring them from attending regular classes and extracurricular activities. Three were later expelled.

Magnolia ISD agrees to pause enforcement of district-wide long hair policy for boys and nonbinary students

Posted on November 4, 2021 · The district will now allow boys and nonbinary students to wear their hair longer than the bottom of their ear and to fashion their hair in a ponytail or bun without fear of punishment.

7 students file a federal lawsuit against Magnolia ISD accusing the district of gender discrimination

Posted on October 21, 2021 · The lawsuit says the students suffered "severe, ongoing, and escalating harms" due to a district-wide policy prohibiting boys from wearing long hair.
