Posted on August 16, 2019 · Even though the Trump administration's new public charge rule doesn't apply to most immigrant families, misinformation, mistrust and fear around the rule change is impacting public health. Cancer patients, single mothers and other families are opting out of food stamps and Medicaid because they're afraid it could affect their immigration status.
