Posted on September 14, 2023 · Leaders of a newly formed nonprofit advocating for members of Katy's queer community said they have been motivated in part by policies adopted by Katy ISD that diminish LGBTQ+ voices and resources within the school district.

Are Katy ISD trustees more concerned with culture wars than student outcomes?

Posted on August 23, 2023 · The district of 94,000-plus students in a burgeoning suburb west of Houston, which has come under scrutiny for its policies related to library books and LGBTQ+ issues, is considering a gender fluidity policy that, among other things, would allow teachers to refuse students' requests to be addressed by their preferred pronouns and require educators to notify students' parents if they make such requests.

University of Houston DEI & LGBTQ support centers open, for now, amid closure fears

Posted on August 11, 2023 · Signs posted on the UH campus this week said the offices had disbanded in order to comply with Senate Bill 17, an impending Texas law that bans public universities from implementing diversity, equity and inclusion practices. The university called the signage "premature."
