Texas Senate OKs bill banning foreign governments, including China, from buying agricultural land

Posted on April 25, 2023 · Senate Bill 147 was approved by Texas lawmakers Tuesday afternoon. The legislation is a watered-down version of the original proposal, which would have banned citizens of China, Iran, North Korea and Russia from buying land and homes in Texas.

Texas Senate advances paid parental leave for state employees

Posted on March 23, 2023 · Currently, state employees who have a baby are not granted paid parental leave. Instead, the worker must use accumulated vacation or sick time. They can also take unpaid time off under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act.
