You heard it here first! Today, Theater Under the Stars (TUTS) announced its full line-up of shows for the 2023-2024 season live right here on Town Square with Ernie Manouse.
We're joined by Dan Knechtges, Artistic Director for TUTS, who shares details of the new season, its highlights, and the history of the non-profit arts organization.
The upcoming season will feature acclaimed national tours and self-produced productions. Knechtges says, the season "really does have it all – thrills, chills, humor, passion and heart!"

Jagged Little Pill
August 29 – September 10, 2023
In the National Tour of this Tony-winning musical, based on Alanis Morrissette's world-changing music, you'll remember what it's like to feel truly human through this story about a perfectly imperfect American family.
Sweeney Todd
October 17 – 29, 2023
The great Stephen Sondheim's landmark musical masterpiece about the titular Demon Barber of Fleet Street is brought to the stage for the first time by TUTS. A perfect show to see during the Halloween season.
The Ugly X-Mas Sweater Musical
November 28 – December 24, 2023
"It's ‘The Office' meets ‘Project Runway.'" Co-written by Dan Knechtges and Megan Larche Dominick, you'll laugh out loud at this new musical production about a group of employees who must create the "best ugly X-mas sweater" to save their jobs, all set to all your favorite holiday songs.
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella
December 5 – 24, 2023
Inspired by the acclaimed Disney adaptation that starred Brandy and Whitney Houston, this timeless classic will be self-produced by TUTS and feature Rodgers and Hammerstein's most beloved songs.
On Your Feet
January 30 – February 11, 2024
This National Tour tells the inspiring true story about the lives and music of the 26-time Grammy Award-winning husband and wife team, Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan.
The Cher Show
April 16 – 28, 2024
A Houston premiere of the National Tour that celebrates the spectacle and glamour of the icon's life. The Cher Show features 35 smash hits, the amazing outfits of Bob Mackie, and three performers playing the one and only Cher.
Newsies
May 21 – June, 2, 2024
This self-produced production based on the Tony-award winning musical from Disney and the film of the same name, tells the story of underdogs becoming unlikely heroes set to a high explosion of song and dance.
