39 mass shootings have occurred in the U.S., in just the first 24 days of 2023. Over the last few days, shootings in Half Moon Bay, Oakland, and Monterey Park, California, killed a total of 19 people.

What is causing these mass shootings in America and what can we do to help prevent the violence?

We speak with Emmy award-winning journalist and CNN Senior Crime and Justice Correspondent, Shimon Prokupecz, who gives us an update on the most recent shootings in California, and on the Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde that shocked the state of Texas last year.

Psychologist Dr. Jeff Temple, Director of the Center for Violence Prevention at UTMB Health, also joins us to share his thoughts on the alarming statistics of gun violence in the United States and what needs to be done to prevent more tragedies from happening in the future.
