For a month now, protests have raged on in Iran following the brutal death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini by the morality police for allegedly failing to meet the requirements of the country's strict dress code laws.
Since 1979, Iranian women have been forced to wear a hijab in accordance with the Islamic dress code. However, following Amini's death, many women have removed their hijabs in protest of the Iranian government and to honor her memory.
We'll be discussing the current situation in Iran with our panel of experts to bring awareness to these protests and to help our listeners better understand the historical and cultural factors that play into the country's strict laws.
