The Final January 6th Public Hearing

Discussing what was found by the January 6th Committee and what it means for our democracy.

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 21: Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) gavels the end of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol in the Cannon House Office Building on July 21, 2022 in Washington, DC. The bipartisan committee, which has been gathering evidence on the January 6 attack at the U.S. Capitol, is presenting its findings in a series of televised hearings. On January 6, 2021, supporters of former President Donald Trump attacked the U.S. Capitol Building during an attempt to disrupt a congressional vote to confirm the electoral college win for President Joe Biden. The January 6th Committee presented new evidence at the final hearing that proved former President Donald Trump knew he lost the election and conspired to overturn the election results.

However, even with this new evidence, will the minds be swayed of so many Trump supporters who still believe the election was stolen? What is the current state of our democracy when a leader insights a riot after they have lost an election?

We’ll be joined by Harris County’s former Elections Administrator and a professor of political science to help us analyze the evidence and determine where we go from here as a country for future elections.

Guests:

Isabel Longoria

  • Former Elections Administrator for Harris County, Texas

James Lindley Wilson

  • Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago
  • Author of Democratic Equality
