From his first directing credit on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, to becoming an in-house director for Taxi, co-creating the iconic Cheers, and directing shows like Friends, Frasier, and the groundbreaking Will and Grace, James Burrows has, no doubt, made an enormous impact on television history. He’s directed more than 75 pilots and reached the milestone of directing 1,050 television episodes, an achievement no other director in history holds.
His memoir, Directed by James Burrows, dives into his long career from his beginnings as a television director, interesting details on the creation of these shows, and never-revealed stories behind the casting of many of these famous programs that have made us laugh for over fifty years.
