He’s done honorable work in public service, including being a member of President Obama’s State Legislators for Health Reform, serving as Chair of the Texas House County Affairs Committee, and enacting policies to better the Houston community. But after having represented District 147 in the Texas State Legislature since 1991, Garnet Coleman has decided to retire effective February 28, 2022.
"I am proud to have represented the people of District 147 for the last 30 plus years. I hope that I have served them well and look forward to continuing to serve our community in a non-elected capacity,” said Coleman in a press release.
