According to the CDC, Black communities have made great progress in reducing HIV.

Yet racism, discrimination, and mistrust in the health care system may affect whether these communities seek or receive care and services.

Today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

National experts are here to discuss the latest in testing, prevention, and treatments, as well as and how far we've come since the early days of the disease.

We also pivot to talk about the future – the future of the COVID-19 pandemic, that is.

What will be the impact of variants, new vaccines, vaccine hesitancy, natural immunity, and the relaxing of restrictions?

We discuss the changing face of the pandemic with a local epidemiologist, and we field listeners’ COVID questions.

Guests:

Dr. Laura W. Cheever

Chrissy Abrahms Woodland

Dr. Catherine Troisi
