Many parents have been patiently waiting for this news.

Yesterday, an FDA advisory panel recommended that the agency approve the Pfizer vaccine for kids ages 5 to 11 for emergency use.

We just need to hang on a little while longer. In coming days, the FDA is expected to issue an official decision on emergency authorization.

If the FDA authorizes this vaccine for younger children, another advisory panel for the CDC would make its own recommendations and offer guidelines next week on its use.

What do we know about the data that has been submitted? What's the efficacy on this age group? And how will this vaccine be distributed?

Today, a local pediatric expert explains what you need to know. Plus, we cover COVID safety during Halloween to help families make trick-or-treating and gatherings as safe and healthy as possible.

Dr. Michael Chang
