What do they have in common?
They're all part of the story of Texas Mexican food.
A new documentary called "Truly Texas Mexican" is making a splash on the food and film scene. It explores the Native American roots of Texas Mexican food, how racism erased that history, and how imitate food experiences shape who we are.
The Houston chef who produced the film joins us today to discuss the unique food of this region, and listeners call in to share their own Texas Mexican food memories, experiences and questions.
At the top of the show, we begin with a segment on recent COVID-19 developments, including vaccines and vaccination in the Houston area.
Guests are:
- vaccine expert, pediatrician, author and professor
- Dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine
- Director of the Center for Vaccine Development at Texas Children’s Hospital
- Houston Chef and Food Writer
- Executive Producer and writer of "Truly Texas Mexican," a new documentary based on Medrano's book of the same name.
- "Truly Texas Mexican: The Movie" is available on Amazon, Google TV and Apple TV and will be broadcast on March 29 at 9pm on Houston Public Media TV 8
