What happens when you experience inequities – even atrocities – day after day?

What does it do to your physical and mental health?

In the wake of the death of George Floyd and the country's reckoning of racial justice, bestselling author and diversity-inclusion leader Mary-Frances Winters has written the book, "Black Fatigue: How Racism Erodes the Mind, Body, and Spirit."

Winters has written the first book to define and explore Black fatigue and the intergenerational impact of systemic racism, and to explain why society needs collectively to do more to combat it.

Today, the author joins us to discuss the lived experiences and exhaustion experienced in the Black community, as well as how well-meaning people can be complicit and what we can all do to understand the problem and change it.

Mary-Frances Winters is President and CEO of The Winters Group, a global diversity, equity and inclusion consulting firm.

Town Square with Ernie Manouse is a gathering space for the community to come together and discuss the day's most important and pressing issues.

Audio from today’s show will be available after 5 p.m. CT. We also offer a free podcast here, on iTunes, and other apps.
