Town Square: The Voting System and Covid (Sept. 10, 2020)

Experts discuss how our voting system works, and the likelihood of a Covid vaccine by the end of the year.

A mail-in ballot application.

Town Square with Ernie Manouse is a gathering space for the community to come together and discuss the day’s most important and pressing issues.

In the first segment, Ernie is joined by Bob Stein, Lena Gohlman Fox Professor of Political Science at Rice University, to discuss the voting system, the electoral college, and a recent Rice survey (which he authored) suggesting that voters with the highest COVID-19 risk are more likely to cast mail-in ballots for the 2020 election.

Then, Ernie is joined by Dr. Catherine Troisi, infectious disease epidemiologist at UTHealth School of Public Health. They discuss whether it's realistic to expect a COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the year.
