In 2012, a mutual love of the ukulele sparked an encounter between Brigette Yawn and Suad Ihsan, which led to a close friendship, and then to the formation of the band Say Girl Say. Since its first few years performing together and releasing an album in 2015, the band’s music has evolved from indie-folk and tribal to a more electronic and pop-influenced sound (yet still with the signature ukulele). Say Girl Say visited Skyline Sessions to record two songs from the duo’s upcoming album Let My Hair Down (due for release in spring 2020): “For You” and the album’s title track “Let My Hair Down.”
