J.D. Pinkus is the former bassist for the legendary Austin experimental rock band Butthole Surfers. Though the bass has been Pinkus’ primary instrument through an assortment of projects, he’s also proficient at banjo, which he processes through an arrangement of effects pedals and audio loops, giving the instrument an eerie, woozy quality.

Pinkus is a rotating member of another noteworthy rock band–Melvins. He also collaborates with Houston-based artist D.Kosmo. He visited Skyline Sessions to record “Broken Days” and “Happy Cow,” both from his 2018 album Keep On The Grass.
