Skyline Sessions: D.Kosmo

Watch the idiosyncratic Houston-based artist perform in the studio.

D.Kosmo‘s music is a bluesy, swampy gumbo incorporating Gulf-Coast styles and growly, scat-infused vocals into a kind of abstract, grotesque mythology. Active in Houston’s music and visual-art scenes for over 20 years, Kosmo can count the legendary art-rock/carnival-act Lowbrow and songs written for the indie-rock/performance-art band JW Americana among his wonderfully weird and prolific output. He currently divides his creative time between writing and performing solo material, his band Black Lung Lucy (a collaboration with wife Jennifer Wilder), and a new project/partnership with Butthole Surfers and Melvins bassist J.D. Pinkus.

With lap-steel guitarist Willy T. Golden, guitarist Dave DaVegas, and Roberto Rodriguez III on accordion, Kosmo visited Skyline Sessions to record “Rolling On A Hipbone” and “Buffalo Children.”
