Dylan LeBlanc possesses one of the most striking voices in American roots-rock. Early in his career, his high-pitched vocal drew comparisons to Neil Young. It’s apt, because LeBlanc grew up idolizing rock musicians like Young and Tom Petty, though much of LeBlanc’s musical output has been in the folk/Americana vein. But with his latest album Renegade, LeBlanc immerses his voice in big, propulsive, electric guitar riffs and hooks, stepping confidently into the rock territory of his early influences. While in Houston for a concert at White Oak Music Hall, LeBlanc (with The Pollies) visited Houston Public Media to record the songs “Bang Bang Bang,” and the title track from the album Renegade.
