Skyline Sessions: Stasney Mav

Watch the Nashville-based electro-pop artist perform acoustic in the studio.

Nashville might not be the place you’d expect to find an electro-pop songwriter, but Houston-born Stasney Mav says the country-music mecca is evolving. “The genres are starting to blend. Country is pop; pop is country,” she says. “I’ve been in Nashville for about six years, and it’s been amazing seeing the evolution. There are opportunities that exist now for pop songwriters and producers that weren’t there even two years ago. It’s exciting to be a part of it.” Mav visited Houston Public Media to record an acoustic version of her single “Bullet,” which Billboard called “a crying-in-the-club anthem rendered in the vein of Robyn's masterworks or Halsey's own tale of queer heartache ‘Strangers.'”
