Skyline Sessions

Skyline Sessions: Morgan James

Watch the New York-based soul singer perform on the station roof.

Just a couple years after making her Broadway debut in 2010, singer Morgan James began her solo career performing in New York City clubs, and recording studio albums featuring both original material and covers. Her notable full-cover albums include tributes to Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, and The Beatles, and she made a video on which she covered D’Angelo’s Black Messiah album in its entirety. While in Houston for a concert at the Heights Theater, James, with Doug Wamble on guitar and backing vocals, visited the station to record a couple songs on the rooftop–the original song “Making Up For Lost Love,” and the beloved Beatles classic “Dear Prudence.”
