Since 1968, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) has presented free public performances at Miller Outdoor Theatre at Hermann Park. And, in recent years, TUTS and Miller have presented celebrations of that partnership, including this week.

Over the next few nights, you can check out TUTS: A Celebration of Houston Stories and Songs. The production features a variety of songs from past TUTS productions.

Mitchell Greco is directing the show. In the audio above, he tells Houston Matters host Craig Cohen about the program and its performers, the importance of free theatre in Houston, and the unique challenges of directing a production outdoors at Miller.

Performances of TUTS: A Celebration of Houston Stories and Songs are Tuesday, July 11 through Thursday July 13 at 8:30 p.m. at Miller Outdoor Theatre at Hermann Park. Tickets are free and available starting a day before each performance but must be reserved at MillerOutdoorTheatre.com.
