Wednesday’s Show: Lewis Black, Howie Mandel, And Houston’s Biggest Mistakes (Dec. 18, 2019)

As Houston Matters gives way to impeachment coverage from NPR, we bring you encores of recent conversations with comedians Lewis Black and Howie Mandel and an encore of a discussion about the greatest mistakes in our city’s history.

Houston Matters on Wednesday will give way to special coverage from NPR of impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. You can hear live coverage on 88.7FM and online here.

In the meantime, we bring you a special edition of our show.

When the news is bizarre and intense, and emotions are high, and you’re looking for a voice who can articulate how you feel about it all, there may not be a better option out there than comedian Lewis Black. As we learned when we spoke in October, America’s most-beloved angry man is really actually pretty mild-mannered off stage. But his rants will return to Houston, in a stand-up performance in January.

Also ahead: TV personality Howie Mandel. He rolled through town back in September to talk about – of all things – combatting high cholesterol.

And everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes, they’re small slip-ups. Others are whoppers. Houstonians share the worst mistakes they’ve ever made, and we consider the biggest screw-ups in Houston history.
