On Thursday’s Houston Matters: The Texas Education Agency has completed its investigation into the Houston Independent School District. While the findings have yet to be made public, some area media reports indicate the agency is recommending a state-appointed governing team replace the locally elected school board. Although News 88.7 cannot confirm what’s in the report, education reporter Laura Isensee updates us on what we do know and what's likely to happen next.

And the manager of the El Paso Walmart where last weekend’s mass shooting took place describes the moment the shooting started. News 88.7's Andrew Schneider brings us that and other stories from survivors and the community at large.

Also this hour: We visit a pilot program that hopes to help young people affected by last year's shooting at Santa Fe High School.

Then, we examine what issues contribute to high numbers of workplace accidents and fatalities in Texas.

And we learn about the competitive world of drum corps.
