13 Minutes to the Moon is a podcast produced and distributed by the BBC World Service that looks back 50 years ago and beyond to the events that led up to the successful Apollo 11 moon landing when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to ever walk on the moon.
Earlier this month, the crew and host of the podcast visited Houston to record the show's final episode at Rice University, where President John F. Kennedy made his famous speech declaring that the US would go to the moon before the end of the 1960s.
In the audio above, Joshua Zinn speaks with host Dr. Kevin Fong about his background in space research and how this event left its mark on space travel and exploration.
