On Thursday’s Houston Matters: With the ruling yesterday that Proposition B violates the Texas constitution, which the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association plans to appeal, we take a closer look at where the saga goes next and how it will affect this year’s mayoral election.

Also, this hour: May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we learn how the local non-profit Communities in Schools of Houston promotes mental wellness for the students at their institutions.

Then, Jad Abumrad, co-host of the public radio show Radiolab, tells us how the show took shape and about the stories that have stayed with him over the years. He’ll be in Houston for a live stage show Saturday.

And Meg Booth, the new executive director of the Society for the Performing Arts tells us about her new role.
