On Wednesday’s Houston Matters: We learn more about the annual homeless count from The Coalition for the Homeless. In 2018, for the first time, the count showed a spike in the unsheltered population by 18 percent. The Coalition says that was mostly due to Hurricane Harvey. Today, we learn what homelessness in Houston looks like more than a year and a half out from the storm.
Then, panhandlers are a common sight on street medians and sidewalks around town. We discuss how Houstonians could best help our homeless population.
Also this hour: We discuss the latest developments in politics on this week’s political roundup.
And Houston Matters producer Joshua Zinn takes us behind the scenes of last weekend’s ESPN’s Collegiate Esports video game championship.
