Play Readings Address How We Define Consent

A series called Consenting Bodies at Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company addresses the topic of consent and violations of it in romantic, sexual, and platonic relationships.

The #MeToo Movement has prompted renewed discussions about consent and what it means. An upcoming series called Consenting Bodies consists of three play readings addressing the topic at Mildred's Umbrella Theater Company.

The group says it wants to contribute to the conversation by "highlighting the works of playwrights exploring the matters around consent and violations of it in our romantic, sexual, and platonic relationships."

In the audio above, Houston Matters producer Maggie Martin talks with the theater company’s Bree Bridger about the readings chosen and what they contribute to the #MeToo conversation.

The series takes place Jan. 12-13 at RecRoom.
