Full Show: Texas Public School Funding, And The Year In Education (Dec. 20, 2018)

On Thursday’s Houston Matters: We discuss proposed recommendations for comprehensive school funding reform, by the year 2050 the over-65 population will more than triple. We discuss the challenges facing the state and Houston. Also, we review the complicated year in education with News 88-7’s Laura Isensee, and we treat you to our version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”.

On Thursday’s Houston Matters: We talk with State Senator Paul Bettencourt  and State Representative Dan Huberty about The Texas Commission on Public School Finance calling on state lawmakers to enact comprehensive school funding reform during the legislative session starting in January.

Then, According to the Texas Health Care Association, the over-65 population in the state is expected to more than triple by the year 2050, which is being referred to as “The Silver Tsunami”. We discuss the looming challenges statewide, and the issues facing Houston’s current and upcoming senior population.
