Houston Matters Remembers George H.W. Bush (Dec. 3, 2018)

On Monday’s Houston Matters: We look back on former Pres. George H.W. Bush’s life in public service and offer listeners a chance to share their memories.

On Monday’s special edition of Houston Matters: We remember the life and legacy of former Pres. George H.W. Bush.

We begin with an in-depth retrospective on Bush’s career in public service from News 88.7’s Andrew Schneider. He brings us stories from the former President’s longtime friends and collaborators as they remember their work and life experiences with him.

Also, we revisit our 2016 conversation with historian Jon Meacham about his biography Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush. Meacham was granted access to the former president's audio diaries and First Lady Barbara Bush's diary.

We also discuss the Bushes’ love of Houston sports and how the former president was depicted in popular culture.

And we open the phone lines for listeners to share their remembrances.
