On Thursday’s Houston Matters: The ACLU of Texas is calling for an investigation into Harris County Juvenile Judge Glenn Devlin, who reportedly released nearly all of the juvenile defendants who had detention hearings before him on Wednesday. That came just hours after he lost his bid for re-election in Tuesday's midterm elections. We get reactions from the ACLU and the legal community.
Also this hour: Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright warns that Facism is still a viable threat to democracy. It’s the subject of her new book, Facism: A Warning. She spoke to an Election Day audience at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center in College Station.
Then, a new documentary pays homage to the late, Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker James Blue, who spent much of his career in Houston. We learn who he was, about his contributions to the film scene in Houston and beyond, and about Citizen Blue, the documentary about him being screened at this year’s Houston Cinema Arts Festival.
And a new performance explores the impact of Houston's drag scene on the LGBT rights movement.
