The Astros return host Game 3 of the American League Championship Series today with the series tied 1-1. As the Astros strive to defend their first-ever championship, you could argue that we're currently living in the golden age of Houston baseball. And while this is a great time to be a baseball fan in this city, Houston has had a rich history with the game, as we discussed earlier this year with Houston historian Mike Vance.

He's written two books on the early days of Houston baseball – Houston Baseball: The Early Years 1861-1961 and Houston's Sporting Life: 1900-1950.

In the audio above, we revisit our conversation with him from July of 2018 about the Buffaloes, the Colt .45s, and the city’s love of Dizzy Dean.
