The Houston Astros start the day with a 2.5 game lead over Oakland in the AL West, after taking two of three in a series against the A's last week and splitting a four-game weekend set with the Angels.

Plus, the Texans prepare for their season opener in New England on Sunday, after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 14-6 in their final preseason game.

And the Rockets traded forward Ryan Anderson and guard De'Anthony Melton to the Phoenix Suns late last week for forward Marquesse Chriss and guard Brandon Knight.

We discuss those and other developments in Houston sports with Jeff Balke, who writes for Houston Press and Houstonia Magazine.
