Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens recently called for a repeal of the Second Amendment in order to allow significant gun control legislation. He wrote about the idea in an essay for the New York Times, saying such a move would weaken the National Rifle Association's power to block gun control measures.

But how hard is it to repeal a constitutional amendment – especially one at the center of a such a divisive national debate?
