If you’ve spent enough time in Houston, no doubt you’re familiar with or at least have heard of the Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel, but how much do you know about the brains behind those two cultural landmarks? Dominique and John de Menil left an indelible legacy in Houston and a new biography highlights how that legacy came to be.

The author, William Middleton, worked on this project for over 15 years, compiling research from across the globe and speaking extensively with the currently living members of the de Menil family. We talk with him about the book: ‘Double Vision: The Unerring Eye of Art World Avatars Dominique and John de Menil’.
