Rice Conference Focues On Post-Harvey Flood Prevention

Experts from around the world are in Houston today to talk about Harvey and flood prevention for Rice University’s SSPEED Center Conference. The two-day event kicked off this morning (Feb. 21). It comes just days before the six-month anniversary of the storm.

News 88.7’s Travis Bubenik joins Houston Matters to update us on what is happening at the conference.

Then, we hear from one of the speakers at the event: urban designer Anne Loes Nillesen from the Dutch firm Defacto Architecture and Urbanism. Houston Matters producer Maggie Martin spoke with Nillesen about incorporating the potential for flooding into future urban planning.
