Houston billionaire Tilman Fertitta is buying the Houston Rockets for a record price of $2.2 billion, according to KRIV Fox 26.

Fertitta, a Houston native and the owner of restaurant chain Landry's Inc., is purchasing the franchise from Leslie Alexander, who announced in July his intentions to sell the team after 24 seasons of ownership and two NBA titles. Fertitta has said if he purchased the team he'd keep the Rockets in Houston.

Also, after being forced to relocate three home games to Tampa because of Harvey's unprecedented floods, the Astros finally returned home to Minute Maid Park (and their families) over the weekend with a little more firepower in tow. On Sunday, the team introduced former Cy Young-winner Justin Verlander, who was acquired from the Tigers last week.

Plus: Houston's professional athletes, teams and owners have truly gone to bat in raising funds for the recovery effort.

We discuss those and other developments in Houston sports with Jeff Balke, who writes for Houston Press and Houstonia Magazine.
