Dr. Hagop Kantarjian's is calling on cancer patients and survivors to join a grassroots effort in denouncing the high cost of cancer drugs. The chair of MD Anderson Cancer Center's leukemia department initially launched a campaign about two years ago, but says little has happened since those initial efforts.

Now, Dr. Kantarjian says the only way cancer drug costs will change is by getting patients involved. He's created a petition and hopes to gather more than a million signatures.

Houston Matters' Maggie Martin sat down with Dr. Kantarjian to talk about his new efforts to lower pharmaceutical drug prices. He says a spike in cancer drug costs prompted him to begin his journey.
