Fall doesn’t just mean cooler weather in Texas. For many outdoor enthusiasts, it’s an opportunity to hunt. There are more than a dozen animals to hunt in Texas, each with a hunting season-from dove to deer and even squirrel.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department oversees Texas hunting with regulations, permits and hunters education.

Bobby Eichler is a biologist with the department. He spoke with Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin about the basic rules of hunting in Texas.
