On Friday, the University of Houston Center for Public History’s Gulf Coast Food Project will welcome Jeffrey Pilcher, a Professor of History at the University of Toronto to talk…about tacos. The lecture is entitled “Planet Taco: A Global History of Mexican Food.” Part of the “Food for Thought Lecture Series,” the talk is free and open to the public.

Professor Pilcher has written a number of books about Mexican food, and as a food studies scholar, he’s examined the role the Lone Star state plays in the relationship between the U.S. and Mexico, particularly in the globalization of Mexican food.

We talk with Jeff Pilcher about Texas and Mexican food, and what he hopes to get across during his visit to Houston.
