Ask fans of NPR’s Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me! and, while they might tell you they enjoy the program because of its weekly news quiz format or host Peter Sagal’s wit, mostly they love Paula — as in comedian Paula Poundstone, one of the rotating panelists on the weekly program.
Poundstone is also celebrated for her stand-up comedy, featuring matter-of-fact observations about everyday life — from raising kids to the insidious nature of Pop Tart packaging — as well as for her spontaneity on stage. She’ll improvise for long stretches and engage her audience in a way many other comics won’t.
In the audio above, Poundstone talks with Houston Matters host Craig Cohen. She performs at the Wortham Center tonight at 8.
