We recently had a conversation about dealing with and preventing elder abuse here in Houston. But elder abuse is just one of many challenges facing the growing population of seniors and the loved ones often tasked with caring for them.

So, on this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss some of the broader challenges of caring for an elder loved one, and talk about resources available in Greater Houston to assist.

Also this hour, we welcome your home maintenance questions. Any questions you may have about home repair or maintenance of your single-family home will be welcome, from shutters to roofs, plumbing to insulating, building additions to addressing wear and tear.

Plus: with spring in full bloom, bees are out in full force. While some of us see bees as a nuisance or a threat, beekeepers who harvest their honey recognize their value. Houston Matters’ Maggie Martin will report on backyard beekeeping in Houston.
