As the population ages – and of course with all those baby boomers nearing retirement that we always hear about – elder abuse has become a growing issue nationwide and here in the Greater Houston. But what exactly is elder abuse? It can be anything from literal physical abuse to cashing an incapacitated loved one’s Social Security check to a door-to-door scam.

On today’s Houston Matters, we discuss what elder abuse is, ways to spot it, and efforts in Greater Houston to prevent it.

Plus: New mascots have been named for four HISD schools; there’s a new city-wide effort to crack down on hoarders; a local state senator gets heated in a largely pointless debate; and a top Astros prospect finally got called up – we discuss The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of this week’s Houston news with our panel of non-experts.

And for all you fans of vinyl, we’ll have a preview of Record Store Day.
