Today is the Lunar New Year. (Happy Year of the Horse!) Many organizations around Houston are hosting events to ring in the traditional Chinese New Year.

In light of these celebrations, we discuss how Houston’s Asian-American community contributes to our economy and culture. We also talk with an official from HISD’s Mandarin Chinese Language Immersion Magnet School about the potential importance of having more Houstonians learning to speak Mandarin.
