On this edition of Houston Matters, we discuss some lesser known or underappreciated events in Greater Houston history, in advance of the Houston History Book Fair and Symposium. At that event next month, some two dozen authors will discuss their work, and highlight what intrigues them about Houstonâs history. Topics will range from the first one hundred years of the Bayou City to the history of the Houston Police Department. We speak with two of those authors, and with a tour guide whoâs been showing visitors Houstonâs underground tunnels for the last two decades. And we welcome your suggestions of events in Houstonâs history that you feel get short shrift, or deserve a renewed look.
Also this hourâ¦Torchyâs Tacos takes Texas Taco to courtâ¦a website calls out Houston as one of the ugliest cities in the worldâ¦and a Texas youth football league eliminates participation awards.  We turn to our panel of non-experts to disseminate âThe Good, The Bad, and The Uglyâ of Houston news this week.
Houston Matters gets underway at noon on KUHF 88.7 FM. To join us on air, call 713-440-8870, or e-mail talk@houstonmatters.org.
