After months of oppressive heat and humidity, autumn has arrived and the weather in Houston has been glorious in recent days. Seems like as good a time as any to talk about the weather. On this edition of Houston Matters, we field your questions for Houston Weather Research Center Chief Meteorologist Jason Luze, and Lance Wood, Science Operations Officer at Houston’s National Weather Service office. Any and all questions meteorological in nature are welcome.

Also: Another Critical Mass bike ride is planned for this Friday night. We talk with organizers, and consider both the goals of – and concerns raised by – these occasional bike rides.

We also profile this weekend’s “Something Wicked” electronic dance festival.

And: We talk with former Houston Oilers broadcaster Tom Franklin about his broadcast partner, Bum Phillips. Phillips, who also coached the Oilers in the 70s, was a beloved figure in Houston sports. He died Friday at the age of 90.
