“The COVID-19 pandemic is still here,” says Dr. Bhavna Lall, an internal medicine physician and faculty in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine. Here are some ways to protect yourself.

“As much as everyone is tired of COVID, we are currently dealing with the most contagious variant yet: Omicron Ba.5 which also has a higher risk of reinfection.”

“We have the tools to fight COVID and protect our community. Free vaccines, masks, tests, and treatments are all available to you. Get vaccinated or obtain your booster shots as well.”

“If you get sick and are at risk for severe disease, free medications within 5 days of symptoms are available. You don't need a doctor's prescription. It can be prescribed by a ‘test and treat' location like a pharmacy. Find locations and further guidance at covid.gov.”

“Continue to take precautions such as wearing masks, testing before and after gatherings, and staying home when unwell. Stay safe!”
