We are still in a pandemic and the Delta Variant is surging. Dr. Bhavna Lall, an internal medicine physician and faculty at the Tillman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine says we need to remain vigilant and continue to take precautions.

“The delta variant is much more contagious than the original strain of COVID-19. It accounts for 99% of the cases in the U.S. right now.”

“Since the start of the school year in Texas, 52,000 students have tested positive for COVID-19, also infecting their families. Children are also getting hospitalized with the virus.”

“What can we do to stop the spread of COVID19 variants? Get vaccinated. If you are vaccinated, you are protecting yourself and others from severe disease. The healthcare system needs you to do your part to ensure care is available for everyone.”

“Continue to wear good quality masks indoors and in large outdoor gatherings. Social distance and avoid crowds. We are not safe until everyone is safe.”
