This Fourth of July, stay safe while having fun. Dr. Winston Liaw, Chair of Health Systems and Population Health Sciences at the University of Houston College of Medicine has some advice.

“July 4th and celebrations go hand in hand, but get-togethers can lead to outbreaks of COVID-19. Stay safe by planning ahead and following these tips from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC.”

“Consider the factors that influence coronavirus spread – the setting, number of guests, and number of cases in your community. Even if all guests are vaccinated, avoid medium and large gatherings. If you're not vaccinated, wear masks, practice physical distancing, and stay outside to reduce the risk.”

“If we all do our part, we can celebrate this Independence Day safely with small groups of close friends and family.”
